He is going to be played by 29 year old actor Rami Malek, who is best known for his role as Egyptian Pharaoh Ahkmenrah in the movie “Night at the Museum,” and for his role in the Emmy award winning miniseries ”The Pacific.” His special vampire power is being able to manipulate the elements of the earth, such as stone, water etc. Let’s hope he can manipulate the acting on his costars.

I watched the pre-released clips for 22 minutes straight. Sent the trailer to two of my sisters and my brother. My boyfriend and I convinced his parents to take us to see it the opening weekend. And we laughed. Hard.
Despicable Me had me entertained from the very first previews, airing way in advance for its July 2010 release. Scenes depicting yellow-”Monsters INC”-like minions with high voices and shrieking, contagious laughs got me thinking this would be another worthwhile Pixar film. However, when I learned it was a Universal Film I’ll admit, I was impressed, but skeptical at what the outcome would be.
The plot followed a super-villain Gru, voice of Steve Carrell, who ends up adopting three little girls in order to achieve a master robbery. The little girls are probably the funniest part of the movie, especially the youngest, Agnes.

This clip explains everything and pretty much why I went and saw the film.

Although at the end of the movie, I didn’t feel how I did after “UP” or “Finding Nemo”, I had enjoyed the characters of Despicable Me.

I am a male. Maybe that’s why I just ‘don’t get it’ when it come to the Twilight Series. I watched the first one on a date because I didn’t know any better, and then ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’ because I lost a bet. Now, I’m sure the books are great, but at least from a cinematic perspective, the series sucks. Why?

1. Bad Acting
2. Lack of character development
3. Non-realistic relationships (and I’m not talking about the non-human kind)
4. Unbelievable characters

I can accept the New York Times putting the Twilight books on their Bestseller’s list, but what fact I can’t accept is each woman’s unhealthy obsession with such mediocre acting and cinematography.

Honestly, the characters are attractive, male and female alike, but none can act. There is nothing I can’t stand more than a movie franchise that is popular mainly for the looks of its actors, and not the depth of the plot. Go to any blog and what do you hear? I bunch of overly hormonal teenage girls talking about how much they’re in love with Jacob or Edward, NOT what is actually HAPPENING in the movie. I’m frustrated. I’m convinced if you just showed still images of each with their shirts off for 2 hours you’d still sell just as many tickets.

And yes, I guess I am speaking from a biased perspective, but I can’t stand how much in love so many women are in with Edward. In real life, if I had a girl obsess over me as much as Belle does with him, it’d freak me out. And for Jacob, if I had any friend who would hold on so hopelessly to a woman who doesn’t want him, I’d call him pathetic. Move on man. You’re attractive. I’m sure you can find someone with a little more personality than Belle anyways.

A combination of bad acting and a lack of real people that I can relate with makes the movies a total bomb. Please people, grow some brains and wake up to reality. Twilight isn’t THAT good.

Let’s just face it, the only reason 99% of people go to see any movie in the Twilight series is to see the eighteen-year-old hottie, Taylor Lautner. I’ll admit, I am guilty of standing in line to see those famous abs. I do, however, draw the line at screaming at the screen. News flash ladies, your dear Taylor can’t hear you.

Crazy fans aside, skeptics must admit that Lautner has played a huge role in skyrocketing this mediocre series to the top of the box office. In all honestly, who would want to see a pale, hairy vampire when they could see a shirtless, tanned werewolf?

It’s Jacob versus Edward.

Any votes for the vampire? Anyone? Anyone? ….. That’s what I thought.

Taylor’s good looks have the producers laughing all the way to the bank. The movie Twilight grossed over $70 million in its opening weekend. The sequel, New Moon, more than doubled those earnings, pulling in $142 million opening weekend. The third part in the series, Eclipse, was just shy at over $121 million in the first three days of opening. Looks like Lautner’s muscular back pulled in some serious greenbacks.

So regardless of your level of devotion to the world of vampires and werewolves, people can’t deny that Taylor Lautner is a hot commodity. Now pass the popcorn and enjoy the trailer for the latest addition to the saga, Eclipse.

You might have seen the satirical Myspace: The Movie parading its way around YouTube and other online video sites. But the “other” social network (which is now more popular than Myspace) will be getting its own taste of the box office soon….and this time it’s real.

Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake, The Social Network will chronicle the story of two Harvard undergraduates that created the social network of Facebook to be able to feel included in the exclusive clubs of the school.

Check out this trailer for The Social Network. It looks like an interesting film that definitely doesn’t follow the same normal formula as other movies out there right now.

I’ll tell you a movie that does suck. Iron Man 2. Critics rave it as being a brilliant sequel to the Marvel franchise, but although it is entertaining, it doesn’t further the Iron Man, create more character depth, or inspire the audience.

Inception does all of that by being one of the most brilliant movies I’ve ever seen. I won’t go into details for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, but it is essentially a combination of “The Matrix” and “Dark Night”, and yes, this movie is greater than the sum of its parts.

Reviewers have called it a “thinking man’s movie” but don’t let that turn you off. Anyone with a brain can follow the plot line given they don’t talk during it. Turning to the person next to you to ask for clarification will only put you farther behind. Every sentence in Director Nolan’s masterpiece is important.

In Inception Nolan takes you into the world of dreams as lead Leonardo DiCaprio (Cobb) works to break into the subconscious of Cillian Murphy (Robert Fisher). As DiCaprio digs deeper and deeper into Murphy’s mind though, he soon finds his own subconscious at work, leading him on a chase to uncover truth and resolve the conflicts of his own past.

What makes this movie brilliant though is how it draws the audience in. the first 30 minutes will entertain you. The next hour will make you start asking questions, and by the end, you will leave the theater just as confused as the characters in the story as to what is and what isn’t reality.

Nolan has done it once again in Inception, a brilliantly crafted blockbuster that will leave you wanting to see it again and again. For those of you who prefer to wait and rent, don’t. Either see it now, or buy it later.

This October you will have the chance to see a drama that boasts an all-star cast…

The new film Company Men, which hits theaters on October 22nd, has in its ranks a plethora of big-time actors: Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, and Kevin Costner. It’s a drama that focuses on several men that all get laid off from their jobs because of corporate downsizing. The film looks at how this turn of events affects these men’s lives and families.

Usually, I’m not very excited for dramas to come out, but this one looks smart and heartfelt; and with an all-star cast I’m hoping that it is just that. Below is the trailer for Company Men. Enjoy!

Giving a nod to the original Schwarzenegger shoot-em-up blockbuster back from 1987, Predators was released in theaters several weeks ago. This would basically be the 5th installment of the Predator franchise, which spans over 20 plus years.

The first Predator was extremely popular, but any attempt by Hollywood to milk more money out of the character proved to turn sour. Predator 2, and both Alien vs. Predator films bombed. Many people thought that the new Predators movie would suffer the same fate. But it hasn’t…

It has received mainly positive reviews, which tell that it stays true to the original story while giving it a fresh new spin. One other aspect of the movie that was surprising was the main star, Adrien Brody. Many thought that he wouldn’t fit the bill because of his more serious roles in the past.

But he surprised everybody, and most critics agree that he does a superb job. If you have time this weekend, go see this movie!

Toy Story fans flocked the theaters waiting eleven years for the third of the beloved Toy Story movies. With much anticipation, and complete and utter excitement, people of all ages enjoyed this film. Young adults and teenagers who grew up watching Toy Story and Toy Story 2, little kids who were excited to watch a movie about their favorite toys, and parents who accompanied them. Even older generations would enjoy this movie because of its emotionally appealing nature, based on the fact that we can all relate to past toys that we loved and played with, and then moved on to other hobbies, though we will always cherish the memories.

People came away from the movie very happy and pleased with the outcome. Many even came away with tear stains and little sniffles, because for many this movie was a tear-jerker. Oddly enough, the movies that make us cry are the ones we tend to love the most and say are the best. The ones that make us cry must hit in a very sensitive spot causing our emotions to explode and really “hitting home” causing us to feel that the movie really relates to us. For those of you who have not seen this movie, come prepared to cry or at least to feel very emotionally connected with the movie. Very good movie.
