After beginning his movie career in 1981, Liam Neeson has had a long and successful career. He has starred in movies such as Schindler’s List, Les Miserables, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and The Haunting. However it was after he hit the 20 year mark when he really started landing the right rolls, in the right moves, and when he really started getting noticed.
He started the first half of the 19th century with the movie “Gun Shy.” Liam Neeson starred as Charles “Charlie” Mayeaux, alongside Sandra Bullock and Oliver Pratt.
Soon after, Liam Neeson landed rolls in both Gangs of New York and Love Actually. Gangs of New York was set in 1863, when Amsterdam Vallon returns to the Five Points area of New York City seeking revenge against Bill the Butcher, who murdered his father. Neeson plays the character of ‘Priest’ Vallon who joins the war stirred up by Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio). Leonardo DiCaprio also stars in the recent film, Inception.
Love Actually follows the lives of eight different couples as they deal with their love lives in various situations and circumstances set in London, England during Christmas. The characters are falling in and out of love, some are with the right people and some with the wrong ones. At all ages and social levels, love is the theme carried throughout the movie.
He started the second half of the 19th century with a key action roll in the film Batman Begins, directed by Christopher Nolan. He plays Henri Ducard, a cover for his true identity of Ra’s al Ghul, one of Batman’s greatest enemies. He is the leader of a vast organization dedicated to purifying the human race and returning the Earth to a more pristine state. He is a master of martial arts and an expert swordsman. The next Batman film airs July 2012.
In 2008 Liam Neeson made an action-packed entrance into the movie Taken where he played the role of a highly-trained spy who retired in order to better his relationship with his daughter. Things intensify quickly when the daughter is taken and forced into the slave trade, which leads to Neeson going on a warpath to get her back. This earned Neeson a great deal of attention and applause from audiences around the world.
Just last year, Liam Neeson made another appearance as a action-hero in the film The A-Team (the same year he played in Clash of the Titans). In this thriller, a group of Iraq War veterans attempts to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect Colonel Hannibal Smith and three other men of committing a crime that they were framed for.
Liam Neeson’s latest film is called Unknown, which just aired in February. Again Liam Neeson takes on an action roll as a man who wakes from a coma and discovers that someone has taken his identity and that no one, not even his wife, believes him. With help from a young woman, he sets out to prove who he really is.
