The movie When In Rome is about Beth (Kristen Bell), a girl, that is unlucky in love. At her sister’s wedding in Italy, Beth decides to change that. After the wedding, Beth visits the legendary fountain of love, and decides to take some love with her. She steals several coins from the fountain, only later learning that by doing so the owners of the coins would magically fall in love with her.
Back in the States, Beth is heavily pursued by the owners of the coins, all of whom Beth rejects, except for one, Nick (Josh Duhamel). But does Nick really love Beth or is it all an illusion of the coin?
I have always been a huge fan of Kristen Bell, ever since her days as sassy girl detective Veronica Mars (which was a tragically short lived series). And since his appearance in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton I have kept my eye on Josh Duhamel. Pairing these two together in the romantic comedy When in Rome seems like an amazing idea.
I feel like this movie has the potential to be great. The combination of actors, including Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Dax Shepard (Punk’d), Will Arnett (Arrested Development), and even Danny Devito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), means that the potential for humor is there. The only concern I have is that Beth as a character seems to weak for as spunky of an actor as Kristen Bell. Overall, I am hoping to see this movie on the big screen, with a big bag of popcorn!
