Today is the day you have been looking forward to since the President’s Day weekend ended. Make sure that you spend your weekend wisely and don’t watch any crappy movies (like Surrogates or GI Joe…). ThatShowSucks is here to help you understand what is worth your time and money this upcoming weekend.
Going to the Theater:
If you want to get out and actually spend money in our current economy, here are the top two movies that everyone should enjoy (click title to see trailer).
Avatar is off the list only because you should have seen it already. Sherlock Holmes is arguably one of the better Robert Downey Jr. Movies. Percy Jackson and the really long title is a great show for kids and adults alike.
Redbox:
If you’re too lazy and don’t feel like going to the theater, then here are our two suggestions for you to pick up at your local unnamed movie-disposal box that may or may not be the color red.
First Choice: Michael Jackson’s This Is It
Close Second: District 9
Michael Jackson’s This Is It is a movie for everyone that is in the mood for a good uplifting movie. District 9 is for anyone who wants to see a lot of people getting blown up. Both are great choices for your time this weekend.
Netflix:
If you can’t even make it to a local rental place or redbox, but have streaming Netflix at home via computer or xbox, then here are a couple of winners for your night.
First Choice: Super Size Me
Close Second: Gattaca
The real challenge is to go to McDonald’s and buy everything super sized and then eat it as you’re watching the movie “super size me”. I wonder how long it’ll take before you throw that food away and decide to go to the gym. Gattaca is a classic movie that is exciting for everyone who likes action, drama, and a tad science fiction.
Enjoy the weekend and please don’t watch any crappy movies, unless your significant other makes you. If that is the case, then watch them and try not to cry.

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. In the old days, there was peace between the four nations of the world. The Avatar — Master of all four elements — kept peace between the the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Only the Avatar has the ability to Bend (manipulate) all four elements, but one day, he Vanished. Then the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations for one hundred years. Now, for the good of the world, it’s up to 12-year-old Aang (Noah Ringer), the new Avatar, and the last of the Air Nomads (Airbenders), to return peace and balance by putting an end to the war and mastering all four elements. Aang must accept his destiny by stopping the Fire Nation’s war and defeating the Fire Lord for good. The last airbender is sure to be one of this summer’s less sucky movies.

Today, for most people, is a day off from work and I’m sure that you have absolutely no idea what you are going to do with your newly acquired time. I know it’s a Monday, which means real life starts again tomorrow, but we can still enjoy the freedom. Thatshowsucks is here to help you get into the President’s Day mood, if there is such a mood…, by listing the best movies involving a presidential character as a lead role. We hope you enjoy your day off and spend some time relaxing to one of the below-mentioned movies:
Independence Day
On July 2, a giant alien mothership enters orbit around Earth and deploys several dozen saucer-shaped “destroyer” spacecraft, each 15 miles (24 km) in width. As the destroyers take positions over some of Earth’s major cities, David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum), an MIT-graduate working for a cable company in New York City, discovers hidden satellite transmissions which he believes is a timer counting down to a coordinated attack by the aliens.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Bens great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincolns death. Determined to prove his ancestors innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations but to the trail of the worlds most treasured secrets.
Air Force One
Harrison Ford plays President James Marshall, who, after special forces capture and jail General Ivan Radek (played by Jurgen Prochnow), a radical Russian military dictator with nuclear weapons capabilities, announces on a trip to Russia that the U.S. will no longer negotiate with terrorist groups, nor will the nation be afraid to stand up to them. Little does he know that a small band of militants who sympathize with Radek have penetrated Air Force One’s security system. While on the plane ride home, they attempt to carry out their vendetta against President Marshall.
The American President
Michael Douglas is President Andrew Shepherd, a widower and father who begins to get uncomfortable with the perception surrounding his being a single father. He drops in on a meeting with environmental lobbyists and meets hard-charging Sydney Wade (Annette Bening). After Sydney escorts President Shepherd to a State dinner, the two strike up a relationship, much to the chagrin of Sydney’s boss, played by John Mahoney, and much to the delight of President Shepherd’s political rival, the scheming Senator Bob Rumson (Richard Dreyfuss).

The big weekend is coming and you know that at some point or another that you’re probably going to end up watching a chick flick. For girls this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for all year, and for guys, well, you’ll survive. To make sure that you pick the right movie for your romantic (or lonely) weekend, thatshowsucks has compiled a list of the top 5 chick flicks of all time. 50 First Dates
Henry (Sandler) lives an enviable life in a Hawaiian paradise, spending every night with a beautiful tourist in search of an island fling. It’s a sweet life with no strings attached…until he meets Lucy (Barrymore). He and Lucy hit it off from the get-go, but the next day she acts like she doesn’t know him. Has his karma come around to kick him in the butt or what? Actually, Lucy has short-term memory loss so every night all memory of her day is erased. But a man in love will go to any lengths to win over the girl of his dreams, and if that means having to find imaginative ways of doing it over again every day, then Henry’s up for the challenge.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Family tensions arise after a woman (Nia Vardalos) falls in love with a man (John Corbett) who is not Greek.
3rd Place
Never Been Kissed
Many people wish they could go back to high school, knowing what they know as an adult; Josie Geller gets the chance to do just that in the comedy Never Been Kissed. Josie (played by Drew Barrymore) is a 25-year-old copy editor at a newspaper in Chicago. But it’s her youthful looks as much as her journalistic skills that finally win her a writing assignment: she’s ordered to enroll in high school posing as a teenager for a story on the state of America’s youth. Trouble is, Josie was a hopeless nerd in high school (called “Josie Grossie” by her classmates); she had no idea of how to fit in with the cool kids, and she’s hardly gotten any better at it in the seven years since graduation.

An angel (Nicolas Cage) considers becoming human after falling in love with a Los Angeles heart surgeon (Meg Ryan) .

Hitch
A man who teaches dateless wonders how to become irresistible to women learns just how hard it can be to do it yourself in this romantic comedy. When a guy in New York City wants to make the right impression with a certain lady, Alex “Hitch” Hitchens (Will Smith) is the man he calls. Hitch has made a career out of coordinating a man’s first three dates so that they’ll show him to his best advantage (for a price, of course), and more than a few have taken women to the altar they first started courting with Hitch’s help. But Hitch discovers his own romantic limitations when he falls for Sara (Eva Mendes), a journalist who has her own ideas about romance, and might just expose Hitch’s underground business to the world. In the midst of all this, Hitch has his hands full with Albert, a sweet but socially inept man who has enlisted Hitch’s services.
We hope you enjoy the weekend and enjoy spending some quality time with your significant other, even if that is a tub of ice cream.
