Inception: Finally a movie that doesn’t suck

I’ll tell you a movie that does suck. Iron Man 2. Critics rave it as being a brilliant sequel to the Marvel franchise, but although it is entertaining, it doesn’t further the Iron Man, create more character depth, or inspire the audience.

Inception-pic-2Inception does all of that by being one of the most brilliant movies I’ve ever seen. I won’t go into details for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, but it is essentially a combination of “The Matrix” and “Dark Night”, and yes, this movie is greater than the sum of its parts.

Reviewers have called it a “thinking man’s movie” but don’t let that turn you off. Anyone with a brain can follow the plot line given they don’t talk during it. Turning to the person next to you to ask for clarification will only put you farther behind. Every sentence in Director Nolan’s masterpiece is important.

In Inception Nolan takes you into the world of dreams as lead Leonardo DiCaprio (Cobb) works to break into the subconscious of Cillian Murphy (Robert Fisher). As DiCaprio digs deeper and deeper into Murphy’s mind though, he soon finds his own subconscious at work, leading him on a chase to uncover truth and resolve the conflicts of his own past.

inception-pic-1What makes this movie brilliant though is how it draws the audience in. the first 30 minutes will entertain you. The next hour will make you start asking questions, and by the end, you will leave the theater just as confused as the characters in the story as to what is and what isn’t reality.

Nolan has done it once again in Inception, a brilliantly crafted blockbuster that will leave you wanting to see it again and again. For those of you who prefer to wait and rent, don’t. Either see it now, or buy it later.

‘The Company Men’ boasts an all-star cast

This October you will have the chance to see a drama that boasts an all-star cast…

The new film Company Men, which hits theaters on October 22nd, has in its ranks a plethora of big-time actors: Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, and Kevin Costner. It’s a drama that focuses on several men that all get laid off from their jobs because of corporate downsizing. The film looks at how this turn of events affects these men’s lives and families.

Usually, I’m not very excited for dramas to come out, but this one looks smart and heartfelt; and with an all-star cast I’m hoping that it is just that. Below is the trailer for Company Men. Enjoy!

‘Predators’ gets mainly positive reviews

Giving a nod to the original Schwarzenegger shoot-em-up blockbuster back from 1987, Predators was released in theaters several weeks ago. This would basically be the 5th installment of the Predator franchise, which spans over 20 plus years.

The first Predator was extremely popular, but any attempt by Hollywood to milk more money out of the character proved to turn sour. Predator 2, and both Alien vs. Predator films bombed. Many people thought that the new Predators movie would suffer the same fate. But it hasn’t…

It has received mainly positive reviews, which tell that it stays true to the original story while giving it a fresh new spin. One other aspect of the movie that was surprising was the main star, Adrien Brody. Many thought that he wouldn’t fit the bill because of his more serious roles in the past.

But he surprised everybody, and most critics agree that he does a superb job. If you have time this weekend, go see this movie!
