This Means War

This Means War was recently released into theaters and is already a big hit. The director is able to capture all angles of a truly good film by mixing action, comedy, and romance all into one film.

Rising star Tom Hardy is a perfect fit for his secret agent, hard core role in this film. Chris Pine is a perfect counterpart to Tom Hardy with his flamboyant playboy personality. The contrast in characters could not have been better picked for this film. This Means War

Reese Witherspoon, after what has seemed a long absence from the film industry, comes back with a bang. Throughout the movie she fights with her inner-self between being a sweet innocent woman and being a wild girl who plays the field while dating both Tom Hardy and Pine at the same time.

In the movie, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine have been best friends for years as they work together as secret agents, but to the public one are a travel agent and the other a cruise ship captain.  One flaw of the movie is that their fake identities don’t really fit their lifestyle as Chris Pine is driving an Audi R8and living in a penthouse in the Los Angeles area. However, it adds some flair and excitement to the movie.

After attending a family dinner, Tom Hardy comes to the realization that he needs to find a girl he can settle down with. Pine think she’s crazy but offers to help out as any best friend would. After seeing an online dating commercial, Tom Hardy creates a profile through which he meets Reese Witherspoon.

Before hearing about the date, Pine runs into Reese Witherspoon and does his best to get a date with her. They both soon find out that they are going after the same girl and the games begin.

The advantages that come with being a secret agent are that they both are able to tap into Reese Witherspoon’s life and find out about what makes her tick. As they battle for the girl they also battle with their friendship.

Overall this movie is a must see if you are into action comedies.

Friday Night Movie Night, April 2

The weekend has finally came around and I’m sure you’re ready for it. Here is where we post our recommendations for anyone and everyone interested in watching a movie, on any medium. We hope you enjoy and take our advice.

    Going to the Theater:

If you want to get out and actually spend money in our current economy, here are the top two movies that everyone should enjoy if you haven’t seen them already.

First Choice: How to Train Your Dragon (3d)

Close Second: Percy Jackson and the really long title

I removed Alice in Wonderland from the list this week, because I honestly wasn’t that impressed with the movie. If you haven’t had time to go see How to Train Your Dragon make sure to do that this week or as soon as possible. The show has incredible graphics and the storyline is unique enough to keep you entertained.

    Redbox:

If you’re too lazy and don’t feel like going to the theater, then here are our two suggestions for you to pick up at your local unnamed movie-disposal box that may or may not be the color red.

First Choice: Where the Wild Things Are

Close Second: Fast and the Furious

Where the Wild Things Are is based on a children’s novel that pretty much everyone in the country has read at some point or another in their life. The book was amazing and the movie lives up to that standard. I have seen all the Fast and the Furious movies and found this fourth installment to be one of the best ones. Most of us are trying to forget about number 3 and consider the trilogy complete with number 4.

Shawshank Redemption Movie PosterNetflix:

If you can’t even make it to a local rental place or redbox, but have streaming Netflix at home via computer or xbox, then here are a couple of winners for your night.

First Choice: Shawshank Redemption

Close Second: War Games

Shawshank Redemption is actually the best movie ever made and has held the number 1 spot on my personal list for quite some time. The acting is incredible, the storyline captivating, and the ending is surprising. War Games is older and pretty outdated for a kid-hacker movie, but I actually really enjoyed watching this movie. It was interesting to see what they portrayed as a possible end of the world situation and how it could be avoided.

Enjoy your weekend and don’t do anything stupid, like alphabetizing your movie collection by director.

Let us know in the comments section if you plan on or did watch any of these films. Also, any ideas for weekend movie/tv activities are welcome as well.

Friday Night Movie Night, March 26th

The weekend has finally came around and I’m sure you’re ready for it. Here is where we post our recommendations for anyone and everyone interested in watching a movie, on any medium. We hope you enjoy and take our advice.

If you want to get out and actually spend money in our current economy, here are the top two movies that everyone should enjoy if you haven’t seen them already.

First Choice: How to Train Your Dragon (3d)

Close Second: Alice in Wonderland

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I have already seen How to Train Your Dragon at an early screening and the movie rocks. This movie is fit for kids and adults without being boring. You really feel the viking culture that the creators portray. Alice in Wonderland wasn’t my favorite movie, but it was worth seeing, especially if you like Johnny Depp.

    Redbox:

If you’re too lazy and don’t feel like going to the theater, then here are our two suggestions for you to pick up at your local unnamed movie-disposal box that may or may not be the color red.

First Choice: Twilight

Close Second: Julie & Julia

So I have to explain the first choice before you think I’m crazy. I think that everyone should go and make fun of the movie Twilight this weekend, because I’m betting you have some random free Redbox code lying around or can look one up online. Why not take this opportunity to make fun of Twilight with your friends and not have to pay to do it? That is why Twilight has received my number one spot for this weekend. Oh and if you actually like the movie, well, that’s nice… Julie & Julia can get slow at parts, but if you want to feel hungry by the end of the movie, this one is for you.

Angels and Demons Movie PosterNetflix:

If you can’t even make it to a local rental place or redbox, but have streaming Netflix at home via computer or xbox, then here are a couple of winners for your night.

First Choice: Angels and Demons

Close Second: Signs

I actually found out that Angels and Demons was on streaming Netflix a couple nights ago and have already watched it again. It’s a great show based on the hit Dan Brown book and is ten times better than Da Vinci Code. Signs is a not-so-scary horror’ish’ film about crop circles and is one of my favorite M Night Shyamalan movies.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget that you’re closer Monday every single minute…
